What types of ghosts are you likely to hear about?

The types of "ghosts" you are likely to hear about fall into two basic categories, intelligent and non-intelligent (residuals). from there they snowball off into other categories and directions that may be related or not. It can be very confusing for someone who thinks they have encountered a ghost. Was it an intelligent? or was it a residual was there even enough data available to make that call? If you are researching or starting to research the field of the paranormal you will find many who come to you with pictures and audio recordings of "ghosts" but what are they showing you and where do these wispy apparitions and whispers fall within the higher of ghosts? Lets look at the basic types, this will just be a quick overview, we will get into the individual descriptions and characteristics of each as time goes on.

(SPIRIT) The manifestation of an actual once live individual, person or animal. Spirits are theorized as direct representation of the soul, this is the classic "ghost". Either way it is that energy or life force that exists within all live creatures. Spirits are typically what we consider as "Intelligent haunts". They may be able to communicate with observers. SPIRITS may show up on some equipment.

(GHOST) A ghost is an anomalous sensory experience witnessed by one or multiple individuals that may be validated by both physical and or psychical means.

(APARITION) -, Full body, half torso, etc. These are the traditional image of what many think of as a true ghost. They may resemble someone or they may be featureless.

(VAPORS, ORBS, MISTS) Some theorize that the psi energy of a ghost may be visible in some of these forms. Most researchers tend to ignore this area as it is far to easy to mistake a common occurrence for anything paranormally related.

(POLTERGEIST)
A noisy ghost by definition but by research tends to have nothing at all to do with ghosts or spirits. A form of energy which may manifest itself in physical ways (psycho kinesis). RSPK do not show any sign of intelligence and as such and can not be communicated with. RSPK however can be associated with other paranormal events including intelligent haunts and "demon" encounters. POLTERGEISTS may show up on some equipment.

(SHADOW PEOPLE, CREATURES) Another once ignored or rather mislabeled element in the field, shadow people have always been reported but were almost always associated with demonic activity simply because they are "dark". It should be noted likewise that there is a counterpart to shadow people which are actual "light" beings and as such they are usually seen as good and sometimes are labeled as angelic.

(DEMONS)
Many theories are presented as to the nature of "demons". All of what we know of this class of activity has been handed down to us from religious dogma and occult terminology. What we do know is that a demon is neither a ghost, spirit or poltergeist but it is intelligent and can emulate all of the above. Demons are negative elements and as such are viewed as evil, dangerous, malevolent etc. Continued contact with these entities is not recommended. Interesting enough in paranormal cases, demons share certain characteristics with other EDB's such as angels and aliens. DEMONS may or may not show up on some equipment.

(EDB, EXTRA DIMENSIONAL BEINGS) Highly theoretical but possible by scientific theorization. May appear as none or all of the above, generally a race of beings that may exist in another dimension or phase of our own dimension. May also be responsible for alien sightings and experiences.
